The purpose of this study is to inquire into the content organization principle of history section and logic of history education in the course of study for social studies. The study results are as follows: First, the study results showed that the contents of the history section in the course of study for social studies were selected with focus on history of politics and culture and arranged in a chronological method. Second, It was found out that the history education in the course of study for social studies is based on the logic that self-awareness of ethnic identity and cultivation of a national consciousness through the systematic understanding of the developmental process of national history. In addition, such historical logic was influenced by the history textbook which was compiled as a temporary textbook directly after liberation other than the US social studies curriculum which became a model of preparation of the course of study for social studies. Third, this study result found out that it's possible to find a significance in that the history section in the course of study for social studies was independently composed in conformity with the then task of the times of 'directly after liberation' but it fails to correspond to the character as the history of social studies subject that emphasis should be put on the understanding of modern times through the past other than simply learning of the facts of the past. The logic of history education at the introductory stage of social studies subject is linked even to the present, which gives implications to inquiring into the relations setting between social studies subject and history education and the direction of desirable history education.
