This study aims to find out the relationship between occupant well-being and specialized design of Korean apartment complexes, especially indoor and outdoor restorative area, landscaping and health programs. This is done by analyzing the elements of specialized design through the occupant wellbeing related criteria of WELL certification.
To achieve this, five apartment complexes from the Korean Architecture Award were selected as representative research subjects. Second, photograph and video materials are collected from newspaper articles and the platform Youtube. Then, the standards regarding occupant wellbeing from WELL were chosen, and each collected case was analyzed based on the made analysis frame. Lastly, the study proposed management and improvement plan for future apartment complexes’ specialized design.
